Warning...I'm about to mix craft and politics, or, rather, human rights, so if this doesn't interest you, just scroll on or simply admire my daughter's crafted #yellowhammer bird sculpture. . I'm trying to find the right / motivational / inspired words to address this abortion-ban trend that is sweeping our nation, from the bottom (South) up...my home state of Georgia, Alabama, where even pregnancies caused by rape or abortion legally must now be carried to term, Ohio, Mississippi, Arkansas, Kentucky, Utah and more. But I keep writing and erasing and rewriting all over again. . I don't necessarily believe that I'm going to change any minds with this post, but I do want to implore you to do what you can to speak out against this devastating trend. If you can't afford to give money, then maybe volunteer to be a clinic escort. It's not just the states with bans that need to protect women...this needs to happen everywhere. There's a link in my profile that will direct you to ways to help, including donating to @yellowfund (the #YellowhammerFund) an organization funding abortion and building power in Alabama. . My daughter brought home this yellowhammer bird craft from school a few weeks ago, and it just felt like the right picture to post today.

Have you ever heard of Cri du Chat Syndrome (also knows as 5p minus)? It's a rare genetic disorder caused by a deletion on the short arm of the 5th chromosome, and results in a wide range of intellectual and developmental disabilities. The name, Cri du Chat, means “cat’s cry” in French because of the high pitched cries many of the children have at birth. Since the disorder is so rare and not well known even in the medical field, diagnosis can often be delayed. With early interventions and the proper support, children are better able to reach their highest potential. 🧦 So today, on May 5th, we are helping raise awareness and asking YOU to show your support for Cri du Chat by wearing one long and one short stripey sock, to represent the deletion of a portion of the short arm of the 5th chromosome and post your pics for the @stripeysockcampaign . 🧦 @stripeysockcampaign has partnered with @purlsoho, using their sock pattern and Posy yarn, to knit striped socks in bright, fun color and stripe combos. One of my most favorite projects that I did for @therealbluprint of the year...this wristlet cake pincushion made from #makeup sponges. When @cyaghjian and I first made this we had the intention of using it as a #DIY #squishie, but as we were brainstorming ideas for a #pincushion craft, this just stuck out to us (pun intended). You can have your cake and stitch it too! 🎂
How do you go on a road trip with your family when you don't own a car? We are city dwellers, and have managed to make it work without owning a car, and while at times it's a juggle and a tight squeeze to make getting from point A to point B easy, we have been able to function on public transportation, taxis, and the like. Except for when we need a weekend away. . Last week was spring break and we tried out @turo for the first time to enjoy some R&R in the #catskills. We picked our car (among so many options), chose our pick-up spot, and that was it. So easy, so smooth, so seamless, and no waiting in a line for a grumpy employee to hand you your keys.
